Treasurer
I am a born and raised Oregonian, having graduated from Milwaukie High and still live close to my childhood home. I am married with 2 boys, Wyatt 12 and Gavin 8. Gavin is the reason I am involved as a board member. He loves soccer and we wanted to take an active role. Since soccer is a “new sport” to me I wanted to help in a capacity I know- numbers! My day job is an accountant with NCSD and when I was asked by the previous Treasurer if I wanted to help out I readily agreed.
One of the many reasons I love our club is the inclusion of all players from all levels. The coaches spend a lot of hours working and helping players at their level. They see the potential of every player, from beginnings to veterans.
I love being a part of NCSC and look forward to what we can do as a board to help players grow their love of the game!
Secretary
I am one of NCSC’s treasurers, primarily for the NCA side of the club.I started playing soccer as a kid and played through high school and then off and on as an adult. When my son started playing around 2016 I jumped into coaching at the recreational level at NoPo, Irving Soccer Club and then Clackamas United (after moving to Milwaukie). Once my son made the jump to competitive and joined Thelo United, I switched over to volunteering on the board as treasurer. I am committed to helping this club provide affordable, fun, and community driven soccer for all levels of play.
At Large Position #3
I grew up in Portland and played soccer and went to Timbers games when they were in the NASL. In my youth, I was a big skier and outdoor adventurer, and I once worked as a deck hand on a tall ship crossing the Atlantic Ocean. I retired from software engineering in 2018 and now spend my free time traveling and officiating soccer games, sometimes with my two teenage boys, Felix and Elliott.
Both my boys played in NCSC from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and I started coaching Elliott’s team in 3rd grade.
Director of Coaching
As a youth, I started playing soccer when I was 4-years old and played through high school. I still remember watching German soccer games with my father as a child and in particular, enjoyed watching Lothar Matthaus, who played center midfield for the German national team. I was enthralled with his ability to see the field and bend the ball on his shots. I started coaching with North Clackamas Soccer Club 14-years ago, when my eldest son Paxton was in kindergarten. We eventually made the transition to competitive soccer when he was in the 8th grade, in preparation for his transition to High School. I learned so much as a coach in that year and quickly realized that I wanted to bring my daughter’s team to competitive as well. She is 4-years younger, and I realized that although we may have been winning games in recreational soccer, we needed more competition to grow in the game. Paxton will be going to Oregon State in the fall and our soccer journey as player and coach is over, although it was a rewarding experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. I hope someday we will share the pitch together as coaches. Paityn will be entering her freshman year at Clackamas High School, and I am excited to watch her grow in this new environment, confident that she has developed the necessary tools to be successful both in soccer and in school. My youngest son Seeley is in the 3rd grade and will be learning the ropes with me through our new developmental program. Coaching 3 teams these past few years has been both rewarding and challenging, and thankfully I have the full support of my wife Kim, who also is the team manager for our teams. She is the glue that keeps us organized and is by my side when we spend many weekends transitioning between multiple soccer games. At the end of the day, we wouldn’t trade it for anything, and she reminds me, someday soon, our children will be grown, and we will have plenty of time to have our weekends back. Until then, you will find us somewhere on the pitch!
Registrar
I’m an avid music fanatic – been collecting albums, 45s, and compact discs since 1978. Listening to old American Top 40 countdowns with Casey Kasem is my jam.
Going to different food eateries within the Portland area with my wife and daughter are always fantastic experiences.
Since my body is a little to old to play competitive sports – coaching young players in the sport of soccer is where my competitive juices thrive. Nothing better than going into another opponents venue and watching my teams play as hard as they can and succeed not only on the soccer field but in building friendships and team unity.
– Been coaching since Fall of 2012
– Been Registrar since Spring of 2017
– Been trying to figure out the significance of Offside rule since forever
Being the Registrar for NCSC, the sole purpose is trying to find a spot for each youth soccer player on a team. When teams are completely full – I will reach out to Gladstone Soccer, Clackamas United or Milwaukie Soccer Club to get players on teams.
Soccer and Little League Baseball/Softball are the first team sports 4-5 year olds get involved with – our Club does our best to ensure these young players have a great experience learning to play this fantastic sport.
Media Coordinator
Communications Director
As a proud mom of three, my life currently revolves around soccer. I’ve spent the last decade cheering on my girls as they’ve played. From recreational matches to competitive club tournaments, I’ve witnessed their growth, both in skill and relationships. I’m so thankful for our club, it’s like a family—a community where we all support each other. Over the years I’ve come to realize that soccer isn’t just about goals; it’s about building character, resilience, and lifelong friendships.
Outside of soccer, you can usually find me baking, homeschooling, or spending time with my family and animals.
Field Coordinator
I grew up playing American football and baseball and never thought I would be interested in soccer. Then, I had two daughter and my youngest Gretchen wanted to play soccer, and the club needed coaches so I reluctantly agreed to do it “for one year”. I didn’t realize at the time that I was going to absolutely fall in love coaching those kids knowing the impact this might have on their lives and on mine, so three years later and I don’t see an end in sight. I got involved in NCSC board as fields coordinator because it’s important to me that kids start with a good foundation, and that starts with a nice pitch to play on.
Equipment Coordinator
I’ve lived in this area for 14 years. I graduated from OSU in 2000 and have worked for many companies including Starbucks and REI. I currently work for RAD Power Bikes in product support and management. I’m an avid mountain biker, although I don’t get out as much as I would like to. I have 2 children Eli 15 and Tayah 10. Both of them have enjoyed soccer with NCSC.
Eli was in 3rd grade when Bill Kayser was his coach. In our parents meeting he mentioned not saying anything on the sideline accept cheers. If we wanted to say something about skills and strategy we would have to coach. I knew myself and asked to be the assistant. I never played soccer and was a basketball player. However, I have learned over the years rules, strategies, and how to manage youth. I end all of my practices with a cheer of family. That is what these teams become. If you are ever thinking about coaching it is highly rewarding teaching and bonding with everyone involved.
Kindi / Mini Coordinator
I grew up in a really small town in Virginia where there was not much to do. When I was 3 I was introduced to soccer and have played it ever since. Some of my favorite childhood memories involve my first few seasons of soccer and that is why I wanted to be the K-2 coordinator.
Director of Coaching- Recreational
Hi, I’m Coach Javier, and I live and breathe soccer! Even though I never had any formal soccer training, my love for the game runs deep, and it all started from the moment I kicked my first ball as a kid. Soccer has been a constant part of my life, shaping me as both a player and now a coach.
Having spent countless years on both indoor and outdoor fields as a player, I’ve gained valuable insights into the game’s nuances. It’s been a thrilling journey, and I’ve always been eager to share my experiences with others. Three years ago, I decided to volunteer to coach a couple of teams for my local kids recreational league. Watching them learn, grow, and fall in love with soccer has been incredibly rewarding.
Recently, I received an amazing opportunity to coach the local competitive team of U13 players. The opportunity came not because of any formal qualifications but because of my attitude, patience, and understanding of the sport. I believe in creating a positive and supportive environment for my players, inspiring them to push their limits and embrace the joy of the sport. It’s not just about winning games; it’s about instilling a passion for soccer that will stay with them throughout their lives. I’m thrilled to be part of their journey and help nurture the next generation of soccer stars
Director of Coaching- NCA
I grew up playing competitive soccer in the Portland metro area through high school. In 2019 I started playing futsal several times a week with many of my old teammates, which has reinvigorated my love for the game.
Once my kids began to play, I’ve been coaching their recreational teams with Gladstone Soccer Association. My son and I decided to move over to competitive soccer in 2023 and joined a U11 Thelo team, which I have helped to coach along with two former NCSC coaches. I will continue to coach competitive soccer with NCA, along with my daughter’s recreational team.
Through all of my experiences as a coach and in helping other families navigate the world of competitive soccer, I have become passionate about helping our community access soccer of all levels at an affordable price. I am excited to be a part of this larger community to support current NCA coaches and help new coaches transition over from the recreational level.
