Frequently Asked Questions

A: Definitely! We’re all about catering to our players’ needs. Based on years of experience, we know that FUN and DEVELOPMENT are top priorities. Players excel when they’re surrounded by teammates of similar skill and challenged by opponents at their level. Plus, if your player is hungry for more soccer action, our developmental program offers year-round opportunities to play.

Recreational soccer is offered seasonally in the fall and spring. Developmental soccer is year round beginning at the end of May when teams are identified. Developmental teams will play other OYSA developmental teams and have the opportunity to participate in tournaments throughout the year. Participation in tournaments is made at the individual team level.

The focus of developmental soccer is to allow young players to begin the pathway to competitive play early, and offer a space for elevated play.

Correct. US Soccer made this decision and unfortunately, we as a club have to follow this format for all Developmental and  Competitive teams.

Here are the current competitive levels based on age. Players can play up to the next level, but there can be no assignments by grade level.

No! Every year in May NCSC will hold a ID camp that all U8-U10 players will be invited to attend. Players won’t tryout for teams, they will join us on the field to assess whether the program is a good fit for the player and their family.

The fees for the program are $500 for the year. Scholarships are available!

What’s Covered by These Fees?

The NCA youth developmental soccer program offers a comprehensive experience throughout the year, covering:

  • Twice-weekly trainings: Led by our experienced coaching staff in June, July, and August.
  • Fall Season (September to November) and spring season (January to May): Participation in the OYSA Developmental League, culminating in an end-of-season OYSA-sanctioned tournament.
  • Facility Rentals: Access to quality practice and game venues.
  • Administrative Costs: Including OYSA fall and spring league fees, league player cards, and player insurance.

Not Covered by These Fees

  • Uniform Kits: Players are responsible for purchasing their own uniforms.
  • 1-2 potential summer tournament fees
  • Optional indoor or futsal leagues: Participation in additional leagues beyond the regular season is not covered by the program fees.

Are any fees refundable?

When a player accepts a position on a team, all fees are due and considered non-refundable. Any potential refunds are at the discretion of the NCSC board.

Is there financial aid available? Yes! Please email us at treasurer@ncsoccerclub.com for more information.

Developmental players will practice 2 days a week and will likely be on our turf fields alongside our competitive players.

OYSA Developmental League plays all of their games on Sunday during the spring and fall seasons and will be at Delta Park or Wilsonville High School. There may be an additional location in Portland this year.

Absolutely! We’re all for it! Our coaches and crew are big fans of multi-sport athletes. We’ll do everything we can to support players who want to juggle different sports. No worries if you miss a soccer event for another sport during its season – just give us a heads-up.

Your player will need to submit a birth certificate with registration and a photograph for player cards.
